January was marked by discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning for all our little ones! From exploring classic literature and art to engaging in imaginative performances, the children have been fully immersed in their lessons.
Here’s a peek at what we were up to this month:
This month, these classes explored the wonders of desert animals, read winter-themed stories featuring Jack Frost and Father Time, and got hands-on with rhythm sticks to create music. One of the highlights was our constellation embroidery project, where the children carefully stitched their own star patterns. From tortoises and airplanes to fish and diamonds, their creativity truly shone!
A special shoutout to our Cardinals class, who have been putting on weekly “Nature Shows” for teachers and parents. These performances, filled with singing, acting, dancing, and storytelling, have been a joy to watch. Each show is a wonderful showcase of the children’s imagination and enthusiasm for learning.
“It’s so fun to see what the kids come up with for their performances.” - Ms. Olivia
Our Owls class dove into The Tale of Despereaux, narrating the story and discussing its themes. For our composer study, we listened to the works of Frederick Delius, and in art, we explored the masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci. The children enjoyed studying Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, along with reading a biography about da Vinci’s life. Learning about his personality and experiences as a student helped the children connect with him in a meaningful way.
For poetry, we read selections from Walter de la Mare, sparking some beautiful discussions and reflections. Meanwhile, our nature walks became extra special as we watched a newborn lamb following its mother and nursing—such a sweet reminder of the beauty of life and nature.
"The sheep had a baby so our nature walks centered around watching that little cutie follow his mama around and nurse." - Ms. Emily
Our January Lunar New Year Festival at Mother Nature Farms was a festive event! The children delighted in listening to a themed story, creating beautiful crafts, and participating in fun games and songs.
The celebration was filled with laughter, music, and delicious snacks, making it a truly memorable experience for everyone. Thank you to all the families who joined us to welcome the Lunar New Year with such enthusiasm and joy!
Our visit to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum was a fantastic day of exploration and discovery! Families enjoyed wandering through the museum’s immersive exhibits, observing desert wildlife up close, and learning about the unique ecosystem of the Sonoran Desert. The children were particularly fascinated by the live animal demonstrations and the vibrant botanical gardens. It was a day filled with wonderful memories!
