Sophia Cowan is the teacher for Acorn School's Walorf-inspired toddlers class.

Hi! My name is Sophia Cowan. I live in Chandler, Arizona, with my husband Mike. I was born and raised in Gilbert, AZ.

I am one of five children, so there were always so many things we got to be a part of growing up. I cherish the memories of our family together, especially being out in nature, going to the lake and exploring different places in the valley.

I moved back to Arizona after living in North Carolina and Georgia for about five years. My husband and I decided to come home with a few things in mind, the main one being family. After getting married, it became clear to us, given our values and relationships with both of our parents, that we wanted to be here when we start our family.

I have a background in counseling and have worked with children and young adults, specifically educating them on life skills and ways to problem-solve in a healthy way. This is something I will always be passionate about and believe it is part of what shapes my personal values and principles in life.

One of the things I learned during my years working in counseling is my passion for working with children and helping foster a positive way of life. I can’t wait to be a mother one day and homeschool my own children. The approach to learning at Acorn School is something I truly believe in, and I am so excited to be a part of it!
